Shirly Schluchter founded WRCE in 1988 and met Kellie Rotunno in the 1990’s. At that time, Kellie was working as an engineer for a large, privately-held consulting engineering firm where WRCE was working as a sub-consultant. Although job titles and responsibilities changed over the years, Shirly and Kellie remained close colleagues. By 2017, WRCE had grown to 11 employees and nearly $3 million in annual gross revenue, and Shirly was looking toward her retirement. In April 2017, Kellie left the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District to work on her dream of starting up her own engineering firm, R2O Consulting, LLC; the timing could not have been better. After several months of planning and discussion, Shirly and Kellie decided to combine forces, and R2O acquired the assets of WRCE. Since the acquisition in April 2018, R2O Consulting has nearly doubled the number of employees and positioned the firm to deliver top-notch engineering talent to challenging infrastructure projects.
